Tualatin Community Information

Schools in the area are highly regarded. All 14 schools in the Tigard-Tualatin School District were rated exceptional based upon the percentage of students tested. The high level of performance is attributed to strong community partnerships, outstanding volunteers, special programs and a strong educational curriculum. For those seeking higher educational opportunities, Portland Community College, Portland State University, Lewis and Clark College, George Fox University and the University of Portland are all located a short drive away.

In addition to excellent schools, Tualatin features an extensive park and recreation system. There are two expansive community parks, six neighborhood parks, three natural areas and nine greenways. Community Park is a 28-acre park along the banks of the Tualatin River. This park has sports fields, tennis and basketball courts, a playground, a skate park for skate boarding and in-line skating and picnic shelters. The Tualatin Senior Center and Van Raden Community Center are also at this park and both provide programs for all ages.

Brown's Ferry Park is a great place to walk along a wildflower prairie, to enjoy picnicking or view wildlife. An extensive pathway system, picnic tables and a river overlook platform are some of the facilities available at this location. The Tualatin Country Club provides additional sport facilities such as tennis courts, swimming pool and an 18-hole golf course. Atfalati Park is named in honor of Tualatin's oldest residents, the Native American Kalapuyan tribe that once occupied this area. Atfalati Park is an active 13-acre park featuring two playgrounds—one with a pirate's ship—sports fields, two tennis courts, outdoor basketball courts, restrooms, and interpretive signage about Tualatin's cultural and natural history.

There are numerous shopping centers and malls in the area offering everything from day-to-day items to antiques. The area's newest and popular shopping mall is Bridgeport Village located at the north end of Tualatin. The mall is anchored by Crate & Barrel, Regal Cinemas and other quality stores along with many fine restaurants. Washington Square is nearby and includes Oregon's largest Nordstrom and approximately 140 retail stores.
